Why We’re Continuing This Initiative

Last year’s workshop reminded us of something powerful:

Women don’t just want fitness.

They want confidence.

They want awareness.

They want practical skills that matter.

Self-defense training isn’t about aggression — it’s about preparation, boundary setting, and understanding how to respond under pressure.

In a world where personal safety conversations are becoming more important than ever, we believe providing accessible, realistic training is part of our responsibility as a community studio.

This is why this event is becoming an annual tradition.

What Makes This Workshop Different

This is not a demonstration class.

This is hands-on, practical, scenario-based training designed for real-world application.

Participants will learn:

• Situational awareness and prevention mindset

• How to escape common grabs and holds

• Effective close-range striking

• Defensive positioning strategies

• Psychological preparedness under stress

No prior experience is required.

No specific fitness level is required.

The techniques focus on leverage, timing, and decision-making — not brute strength.

Meet Your Instructor

The workshop will once again be led by Michelle, whose background includes:

• 10+ years of MMA training (Karate, Jiu Jitsu, Aikido, Muay Thai, Dutch Kickboxing)

• 5+ years working in Corrections with male offenders

Her experience offers insight not only into physical technique, but also behavioral patterns, escalation awareness, and realistic threat dynamics.

This depth of knowledge brings credibility and practicality to the session.

Accessibility & Community Focus

We are keeping the structure intentional:

💙 Single Mothers: Free

💰 All Other Participants: $10

🎟 Limited to 20 spots

The small group format ensures safety, personalization, and a comfortable learning environment.

This event is not about profit.

It is about impact.

Building Something Bigger

Our long-term vision is simple:

To create a culture where women feel capable, aware, and supported.

By continuing this annual workshop, we are slowly building something more than a class — we are building a movement inside our local Richmond community.

If you’ve been thinking about learning self-defense, this is your opportunity.

👉 Registration is now open. Spots are limited.
